The Book Swap

Preklad do angličtiny: Filip Sameliak

What unites the translation and interpreting community besides our passion for coffee? A shared love for literature, of course!

That’s why, on World Book Day (23 April), each university offering translation and interpreting programs hosts a Book Swap. For a few hours, selected venues of the Faculties of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava, University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra, Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, and University of Prešov transform into a paradise for all manner of book lovers and bookworms alike.

What makes the Sa zobuď! Book Swaps so special? Loads of cool stuff! Besides simply exchanging books, visitors can exchange knowledge by scanning a QR code that redirects them to various academic publications authored by experts on translation, interpreting, and linguistics. To further sweeten the deal, there is also a screen with a live stream from the other three Book Swap locations. So try not to have your head buried in books too much; give it a go and wave to your peers from other universities. With that in mind, you can also draw inspiration from reading recommendations of your fellow visitors and jot down your favourite titles on the poster provided.

You can read about how Book Swap 2024 fared at each university below.
