Z lavíc do praxe (From Prep to Practice) #2: Interpreting in practice

On 29 April, 2024, the second Z lavíc do praxe (From Prep to Practice) discussion, focusing on interpreting in practice, took place in the beautiful Café Christiana in Prešov. The event was organized in collaboration with Monika Bednárová and Diana Kendrová, students of translation and interpreting of French and English at the University of Prešov.

The aim of the discussion was to introduce students to the opportunities and challenges of the profession, helping them bridge their studies with practical experience in interpreting. Monika and Diana shared insights from interpreting at various events, seminars, and conferences during their studies, providing practical advice and techniques on managing stress and handling challenging situations. The discussion was streamed and interpreted via Zoom, allowing a wider audience to join online. Interpreting in English, German and Spanish was provided by students from the Matej Bel University and Comenius University. 

The discussion in Prešov was very successful and enriching, offering valuable support and inspiration to students interested in gaining practical experience.  We are looking forward to continuing the Z lavíc do praxe (From Prep to Practice) series in other cities.
